xRM is a term used to frame the concept that CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software is in fact software to manage ANY type of relationship - hence the term "x" Relationship Management.

The "x" might be student relationship management, or job applicants, or doctors. But it can also apply to "things" - corporate facilities or assets, building applications, rental properties - or anything.
